I love living in The Netherlands, don't get me wrong. I've built a life here and have settled down with a bf I still love after almost 10 years together. But everytime I see a picture or afilm where I can see the island where I was born I miss it. Today that was the case again. I saw the images of the city and remembered how often I sat there watching the ships come into he harbor. The many times I sat on the beach all alone watching the sunset or sunrise. The feel of the seawater drying on my skin under the hot sun. It's been 14 years since I felt it, yet I can remember it so clearly. I know I can'tgo back to live there. There's nothing left to go back to, but still....
I'm going there on vacation next year, though there is a confrontation waiting for me that I'd rather avoid. But I have to see my home once more.
